Okay, as dramatically announced before: Here come the NEWS!
(And I'm gonna start at the beginning, so this might just be a bit longer)
I don't know if I mentioned it, but I've left home at the end of August to go on my personal adventure, 4 months of working on farms all throughout Sweden on short notice. I think I'm pretty much half through this by now and so far I've made a wide range of experiences from uncomfortable to nothing short of amazing (I'll come to that in a second).
So, at the moment I am on my third farm, a tiny place about 200km north of Stockholm. My hosts are incredibly kind and generous people, the husband keeps bees in a sustainable manner not taking as much honey from them as he could and the wife has her own small company of handmade ecological products.
I highly recommend that you check out www.devaz.se - the website can be translated to English and if you're looking for (mostly vegan) ecological high quality skincare products - well, look no more.
Anyway, this is where I come in: As I'm a volunteer farm worker, I expected to be employed as a garden help or something along those lines. I of course have my sketchbook and my watercolors with me a lot, though, so both Susanne and Jos saw my art several times during the first few days. And as it happens they really liked it - in fact they liked it so much that they asked me if I would mind designing logos for both their companies.
To which I calmy replied wtf hell no yes i'd love to
After I did that (pictures of those designs are coming up some time later -they're still lacking the final touch), Susanne asked me to help her make a background design /poster for when her products are going on sale in shops around Sweden. And of course this is the most beautiful thing that could possibly have happened, for heaven's sake I'm making my living by painting right now!
So what you're seeing here is the first sketch for what that poster is going to look like.
This is why I'm adding a watermark and won't be selling prints - sorry.
But eh, yeah, can you believe it? I'm completely out of my depth here, I never expected this chance to arise when I signed up for the job - I'm so thankful and happy and still in a state of disbelief, and I just wanted to share this!
I'm sorry about the quality of the photograph, there's no decent lighting to be found in this house; )
Thanks for reading!: ))
